A week journey explores the laid-back southern state of Kerala, a part of India blessed with an enchanting green landscape of padi fields, palm trees, golden beaches and forested hills.
We’ll experience its many different aspects – from old trading ports and idyllic backwaters along the coast to wild elephants and Jungles up in the Ghats, as well as a cycle ride in and around backwaters will be an added attraction.
Kochi
3 Hours Before Flight Time
Arrive at the International Airport of Kochi (also known as ‘Cochin’). After a traditional ‘Swagat’ (Welcome) our representative would assist you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. Afternoon is free and in the evening we attend a traditional Kathakali dance show. Overnight Hotel
Today after breakfast we visit the elephant training center situated at Kodanad on the southern banks of Periyar River. Here we get a chance to see the elephants being bathed and feed. After that we return to Kochi and proceed for the sightseeing of the Kochi; we visit Mattancherry Palace also known as the Dutch Palace; it was built by the Portuguese and presented to Veera Kerala Varma (1537–65), Raja of Kochi, in 1555 AD. Visit Jewish Synagogue, it is the oldest synagogue in all the Commonwealth of Nations and was built by Malabar Yehudan People, or Kochi Jewish community. Then we visit St. Francis Church, it is the oldest European church in India and was built in the beginning of 16th century. Later visit The Chinese fishing nets at Fort Kochi, it is a very popular tourist attraction. These nets are fixed land installations, which are used for a very unique and unusual method of fishing. This morning we leave Kochi and drive towards Mancombu village, it is a small village and home to a beautiful temple. We reach at Mancombu and check-in to the hotel and relax; later in the afternoon we take our cycles and start cycling towards the villages and get a good opportunity to watch the village life; interact with villagers, visiting churches and temples. Afterwards we return to the hotel and relax. Overnight Houseboat
Today after breakfast we drive towards Thekkady and enter into the hills of Thekkady, where lies the Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary; it is a protected area and also notable as an Elephant reserve and a Tiger reserve. It was declared as the Periyar National Park in 1982 and it is set in the high ranges of Southern Western Ghats in Cardamom Hills. En-route we visit rubber plantation where we see how rubber is being processed. Then we continue our drive towards Thekkady; we reach and check-in to the hotel and later we proceed for the jungle walk into the Periyar National Park and get a good chance to observe the flora and fauna of the park. (Distance: 85km approx.) Overnight Hotel
Today early morning we take a boat ride on the Periyar Lake (Periyar National Park) to see the wild life such as wild elephant, tigers, chital and sambar deer, lion tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs and also a good chance to spot various species of birds like Malabar grey hornbill, Nilgiri wood pigeon, blue-winged parakeet, Nilgiri flycatcher and much more. After that we come back to hotel and drive towards Alappuzha (Distance: 150km approx.); we reach Alappuzha and check-in to the traditional houseboat and relax. Overnight Hotel
This morning we have breakfast and check-out houseboat then we board the vehicle and drive towards Mararikulam (Distance: 15km); it is a beach village and has a very beautiful beach. We reach at Mararikulam and check-in to the lovely homestay; afterwards we have chance to visit the local fishermen’s village and experience their lifestyle. Later we come back to the homestay and relax. Overnight Homestay

This day we will be transferred to the International airport, Kochi to catch the flight for back home.
